ASIAN STAR LUHAN SETS THE RECORD FOR MOST COMMENTS ON A WEIBO POST--

Guinness World Records can today confirm that LUHAN, a member of pop group EXO has set a new social media world record for most comments on a Weibo post.
The singer’s football-themed post, originally published on 10 September 2012, had achieved 13,163,859 comments as of 5 August 2014 – almost double that of the second most commented post on the Chinese social network.
The post continues to attract comments, with the current figure standing at 13,315,036 at the time of publication of this article.
LUHAN is a member of EXO, a South Korean-Chinese boy band produced by S.M. Entertainment.
EXO is made up of eleven members who are separated into two subgroups, EXO-K and EXO-M.
The former releases music in South Korea, while the latter promotes music in mainland China. EXO's name was taken from exoplanet, a term referring to planets outside of the Solar System.
Having made his name for singing and dance, LUHAN is now branching out into the world of acting, following a recent appearance in the Chinese movie Miss Granny.
The record marks the first world record verified by Guinness World Records since it began accepting claims from leading Chinese language social media and communications platforms.
Speaking in Beijing, GWR Greater China President Rowan Simons said: “Extending record breaking into China’s thriving social media space has been a priority since we opened our office here in 2012 and we have now established the official Guidelines for verifying records on the top Chinese platforms. We are excited about the first new record announcement and we expect more social media records to come in the coming days”.
China already holds the Guinness World Records title for “Most internet users (country)” and, by the end of 2013, had 618 million netizens, representing 45.8% of the total population.
